Year 8 Civil War Day

This year, to reduce costs and travelling time, we have arranged for Colonel Granville Thomas to present a day on the Civil War to all Yr8 students.  This will give the students the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities, including handling artefacts and a range of 17th Century weapons; to learn how the battles were fought and how the Civil War affected all aspects of peoples’ lives. The day is aimed at helping students to build up an empathy with the people of the 17th Century.  All the activities take place on the school site, within normal hours, and students are supervised at all times.

The activity has been arranged for Tuesday 19 February (8D, 8M and 8A) and Wednesday 20 February (8N and 8G). Students will need to be in school uniform and will need to bring an outdoor coat.

In order to meet the cost of this activity we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £3.50 per student. This should be brought into the Finance Office, with the reply slip (letters were issued to parents on Monday 28 January along with the reply slip), by Friday 8 February. Online payments will also be accepted up to this date or until all available places have been taken.
