Sargent Tolbert

Wilson House's very own, Sargent Kaitlyn Tolbert (11W1) had a very busy half term. She left on Saturday 21 October to return the following Saturday having attended the final camp of the year at RAF Henlow. This camp was primarily a sports camp, but also there were lots of visits to Air Craft Museums, Signals Museums and Hanger Clubs,  Wednesday's treat was a trip to a fantastic water park and the usual bowling night plus much more.

Kaitlyn was in command of her very own flight at camp, which meant she had command of 12 cadets for the entire week and had to give a drill parade for inspections at the end of camp. Quite an achievement for a 15 year old, this has been an exceptional year for Sgt Tolbert!

Sgt Tolbert returned to duty on Sunday for the opening of the new year of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. The next few weeks are about to get very busy, which begins this Saturday with marshalling parking at Speech House Fireworks Display.

Well done Kaitlyn, keep up the good work!

Do you have a child aged 12 and in Year 8 or older at school? Are they looking for a hobby or yearning to join an organisation that can offer opportunities such as flying, gliding, sports, leadership, first aid, band, shooting, BTEC's, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme (to name a few) and qualifications that can help both now and at a later date in life that is very affordable?
You do not have to pay for uniforms, the only thing you have to contribute are shoes (and tights should you have a girl cadet). Cadets are also not forced or pushed into careers into the forces later in life, this is just a great start in life and looks great on a CV!

If your child is interested, how about bringing them along to the 614 (Lydney) Air Cadets. The parade times are on Thursday evenings from 7pm until 9:00pm and Sunday Mornings 10:00am until 1:00pm. Go and have a look at what they do, take part, join in and participate.

For more information please contact the Air Cadets at the email addess below. All newcomers, cadets, parents, future instructors and committee members are welcome.
