Skiing

Following on from a successful summer of ski race training camps across the country with The British Ski Academy and Ambition Racing, along with intense competitions including the GBR National Championships series, the All England Championship, the BritishChampionship and The Anglo-Welsh Championship, Josh Rolfe (11W1) was given the opportunity to spend 11 days out in Leogang Austria over the October half term to train and race alongside some of the best skiers in the country.

The training involved intensive slalom / giant slalom training drills and race practice on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier near Kaprun, trying to master new techniques and disciplines. Despite the incredibly early mornings, poor visibility due to high winds, heavy snowfall causing moguls and ruts and icy conditions Josh said that the training had been a fantastic introduction to and preparation for future international ski races.

Ambition Racing provide a comprehensive performance level of training which is team orientated and through the fitness sessions and ski sessions Josh and his team learnt a massive amount from each other’s experiences, both from the triumphs and when the conditions proved just too difficult!

Josh’s training will be put to the test with the next challenge in the Ambition Championships which is an international race on the slopes of Saalfelden Austria in January!

Good luck Josh, we wish you every success in Saalfelden and we can’t wait to hear all about it.
