Silver for Archie

On Saturday 2 December, Archie Eaton (11W1) took part in the South West Regional Heats of the Heathcoat Cup in Cheltenham. The Heathcoat Cup is one of three National Boccia competitions.

There are 5 heats in the Cup in 5 areas of the country and the finals will be held in Hertfordshire in April 2018.

In this year’s competition there were 4 other players in Archie’s pool. One of them was one of Archie’s team mates at the Cotswold Crusaders Club, one was a teammate at the Gloucester Gladiators (Academy) and the other one was the player Archie beat to win gold last year!

Archie started on a not so positive note, losing his first match 3-2. However, this did not stop him and made him more determined to pick himself up and managed to win the next 3 games 7-1, 8-1 and 4-2.

This ensured he finished his pool as the silver medal winner, narrowly missing gold by 1 point!

Well done Archie, don’t forget to let us know how you do in the finals.
