District Sports
Congratulations to everyone involved in the District Sports yesterday (20 May). DM won the overall event for the first time in at least 10 years! We came second in a lot of categories but consistency meant that we were crowned the overall district champions.

Rugby
As you know, we travelled down to London on Friday 26 April for the U13 Girls' Rugby Finals. Anybody would have thought we were abroad. The girls were in awe of the posh hotel and were really excited and focused ahead of the morning’s round matches.

After a very early start on the Saturday we arrived at Staines RFC for our pool games. After losing our first match (2 - 1) the girls were a little bit disappointed but after a motivational chat, the girls had their game faces on and went on to win the following 4 matches, meaning we won our group stage and were going on to play in the National Final at Twickenham! To say we were excited was an understatement!

We arrived at Twickenham and went for our museum tour then took our seats (trying to calm our nerves), slowly getting more nervous as the Military Wives sang the National Anthem!

It was game time; we all ran out onto Twickenham with a crowd of 81,000 cheering us on! The game started and the girls put in big tackles and were running at the opposition. Rebecca Stephens broke through and scored our first try, WOW! The cheering and shouting was amazing and in the last minute Rebecca broke through again to score her 2nd try! What an experience. The full time whistle went and we were National Champions!!! The girls and I were jumping up and down and I possibly had a little tear in my eye!

The girls were truly amazing and an inspiration. It was a pleasure to be a part of their day and an experience we will never forget.                                                Miss Price.

Hockey
The mixed Hockey Team lost 3-2 to Dean Academy. This was their first ever hockey match so this was an amazing result against a school who plays hockey regularly.

Rounders
The Yr9 Rounders Team won against Wyedean.

Boccia
6 boys took part in the Boccia tournament at Newent School on 15 May. They were split into two teams of 3 and played other teams from Newent, Dean Academy and Lakers School.

Out of the 9 teams playing, Dene Magna’s Team A ended up overall winners, winning nearly all their matches and Dene Magna’s Team B came a very commendable 7th, although the scores were very close.

The boys will now go forward, along with Heart of the Forest School, to play at Hartpury College at a later date.

Well done to: Archie Eaton, Alex Haines, Alex Clayson, Louie Didcote, George Brown and Luke Reeves.
