GCSE Results 2015

It is with great delight that we can finally announce our GCSE results for 2015, as most of the remarks and appeals are now in. Our final figure for those students achieving 5 or more GCSEs, including English and Maths, is 67.5%. This is an 11% improvement on last year’s results and shows the continued improvement in the outcomes for students at Dene Magna.

Our progress measures for English and Maths were equally impressive, with 77% making expected Progress (EP) in English and 35% more than expected progress. In Maths the figures were 77% EP and 27% more than expected.

We are particularly pleased with the way that different groups achieved across the year group. All students, who arrived at Dene Magna in Year 7 with a Level 4A or Level 5, achieved their 5+A*-C inc English and Maths. Also 83% of students, who arrived on a level 4, achieved that benchmark.  This compares to a national level of 50% of Level 4 students achieving this in 2014.

Throughout this year, we have been making use of the extra funding that the government provides for disadvantaged students, known as the Pupil Premium (PP). Therefore, it is with great pride when we see the impact of that work. The target is to close the gap in performance between disadvantaged students and other students. The year group, with 30 students in receipt of Pupil Premium funding, managed to close the gap and we are delighted that our disadvantaged students achieved the same GCSE results as other students. This is a fantastic achievement.

We are all exceptionally proud of the achievements of this remarkable group of young people and we wish them well on the next step of their learning journeys at a wide range of schools, colleges and apprenticeships in the area. We would also like to thank all of you for your amazing support.
