2016 GCSE Results

We are delighted that 63.1% of our students have currently achieved the benchmark combined English and Maths measure this year (which differs from how secondary schools were measured previously). It is more pleasing to note that this cohort joined us significantly under the national average in year 7 and have gone on to achieve well above it in year 11. Over 70% of our results were a grade C or more (compared to 66.9% nationally) and over 75% of our students achieved 5+A*-C.

In English, 89% of students made at least expected progress and in Maths the figure is currently 72% as we are waiting for some other results (and Maths seems to have been affected nationally this year). Our Progress 8 score is currently 0.35 but this will rise as we await more results. Results in many subjects were incredibly high with 10 subjects scoring over 90% A*-C and 14 subjects achieving over 80%. 20 students achieved 5 or more A*/A grades. Attendance for the year was 96% which is our highest ever.

To set in context that this year group joined us from primary school achieving significantly below the national average and have left us achieving well above the national average. Well done to all the students, staff and parents/carers for their hard work and dedication.
