Carnegie Winner of Winners

2017 is the 80th Anniversary of the CILIP Carnegie Medal, an annual award to the writer of an outstanding book written in English for children and young people. The Cheltenham Festival is running the Carnegie Winner of Winners project for secondary schools in the county to mark this Anniversary and we are delighted to have been chosen as one of the six schools to take part.

In the first stage of this project we will be encouraging students to read as many titles as they can of the previous winners, to help decide which three books Dene Magna students nominate for inclusion on a shortlist.

Then we will be given copies of the 6 shortlisted books and also be told which one we will be championing at a Festival Event on Wednesday 11 October.

Dene Magna’s library will have copies of the majority of the titles, however, any extra copies would be much appreciated, so if you have any of the previous winners at home (http://www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/archive.php?medal=carnegie ) and would be happy to have them read by our students, we will be very happy to look after them for a while!
