Future Chef Result

Huge congratulations to Ruby Palmer-Smith of Dene Magna School who won the Local Heat of the Future Chef competition, a national school programme which inspires young people to develop their culinary talent. The competition was held at Gloucester College on Wednesday 21 November 2012. Ruby created a two course meal consisting of ‘Carrot and coriander fritters with halloumi and sweet lemon dressing,’ followed by ‘Mango and cardamom cream served with a crisp tuile biscuit’. This spice infused menu, with its sweet Asian aromas was obviously a winner with the judges. Ruby was presented with a John Burton Race cookery book and certificate and she now has the opportunity to receive mentoring from Shaun Naen, Head Chef at Gloucester college, before she competes in the South West Regional final in Tiverton in February. We wish her the best of luck and well done again Ruby.
