Politics

Welcome to A-level Politics at Dene Magna!

You have made an excellent choice in studying politics, as it will set you apart from other students due to the real world knowledge and awareness you will gain, as well as the ability to debate with the best. We look forward to guiding you through the jungle of politics and then emerging on the other side ready to face the world! You’ve already made the wise choice to get involved in politics… and you are not alone:

  • ‘Politics is not a game. It is an earnest business’ - Winston Churchill

  • ‘Politics is the art of the possible’ - Otto von Bismarck

  • ‘Politics is a profession; a serious, complicated and, in its true sense, a noble one.’ - Dwight D Eisenhower

  • ‘Politics is the most important of the civil activities’ - Pope Francis

  • ‘Even if you didn't want to have anything to do with the politics, you have to’ - Thundercat

  • ‘There might be some serious fun in politics’ - Hunter S. Thompson

In order to prepare for starting politics in Y12 there are things you can read, watch, and listen to, as well as key people to follow on social media, and some activities to complete; all can be found in the Bridging Work document.

The key piece of advice, however, is to remain up to date with what is going on in the world, especially in the UK and America, as things can literally change overnight!
